Guipuzcoa, July, 2025 – TEKIA, in joint venture with TYPSA, has been awarded the contract for the construction supervision (Dirección de Obra) of the refurbishment works at the Oiartzun and Zarautz (East) toll plazas, operated by Bidegi, the public company managing the high-capacity road network in the province of Gipuzkoa.
These works are part of Bidegi’s broader strategy to transform its tolling system and adapt to a new free-flow model, which aims to improve traffic conditions, minimize congestion at tolling points, and enhance the overall user experience on the AP-8 motorway.
The scope of the project includes not only the complete demolition and reconstruction of the toll plazas, but also the deployment of new gantries and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to support electronic toll collection and vehicle detection under free-flow operation.
Tekia and TYPSA will be responsible for supervising all phases of execution, including civil works, electrical and communication systems, and the integration of tolling and control equipment. Their role also includes monitoring quality, occupational safety, environmental compliance, and ensuring that the execution aligns with both the technical project and applicable regulations.
With this contract, Tekia reinforces its position as a leading engineering and consultancy firm in the transport infrastructure and toll systems sector, supporting the transition towards smarter, more efficient and sustainable mobility models.
