Bogota, may 2020. In the frame of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Iniciative, the World Bank´s Global Road Safety Facility has commisioned TEKIA to assist to the The Secretariat of Mobility of Bogota its methodology to prioritize locations of new traffic lights, to include road safety criteria in the decision-making process.
For this project, TEKIA will carry out a study of international experiences related to road safety and the deployment of traffic lights, as well as the analysis, comments and proposals for the methodology currently applied by the Secretariat on the feasibility of implementing new traffic light controls, with the objective of including road safety as a prioritization criterion in this implementation taking into account, among other data, the accident rate, permitted speed or the existence of inspection or vulnerable points such as schools.
Framed within the "Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Initiative for Road Safety 2020-2026" this project, financed by Bloomberg Philanthropies and in close collaboration with the municipality of Bogotá, aims to improve road safety in the city.
