Madrid. April 25, 2024. With the support of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, TEKIA will develop the Connected Bus Open – 5G Digital Twin of Buses in the Cloud project, which consists of a system of connected buses that integrates on-board and replicates in a digital twin of the buses in the cloud, the vehicle's data and signals, and the data generated by its ITS.

The main objective is to define, develop, implement, and test a connected, open, integrated, and multi-manufacturer bus system. Open so that third parties can build their own ITS solutions for the PT; integrated because it will carry out an integration of the PT-ITS domains, vehicle data, and the context of the service they provide; and multi-manufacturer as it enables the creation of a digital model of the onboard bus regarding PT-ITS for any manufacturer.

The project seeks the creation of a multi-vehicle Digital Twin in the cloud. To achieve this, it will use 5G technology to keep the data of multiple buses synchronized without exceeding the maximum latencies required by ITS-TP. Its benefits include plug & play implementation, data standardization, a single cloud per operator regardless of brand/model, cost reduction, easy integration between systems and applications, high scalability, the definition of new cloud applications without external dependencies, and compliance with the European Data Law.

The CONNECTED BUS OPEN project ‐ 5G Digital Twin of Buses in the Cloud has been funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, for an amount of 651,733.02 euros, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. Granting body of the aid: Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function.
