Madrid (Spain) may 2019. After the successfully pilot test, in which the requirements of the project were overtaking, the EMT company will implement the EcodrivingBus (Efficient Driving Assistance System) in more than 1000 buses of the EMT fleet before the end of the year.

This system is intended to improve vehicle driving from the point of view of energy efficiency and driving quality, through real-time information to the driver about his driving style, and the generation of reports in the Control Center on the evolution of driving quality, safety and user comfort, and the reduction of fuel consumption. The system developed makes it possible to recognize the driver's compliance with the criteria of efficient driving, correlating it with the savings obtained in consumption.

La Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT) will have the EcodrivingBus Efficient Driving Assistance System installed in half of its vehicle fleet by the end of 2019. Developed by the ETRA-TEKIA joint venture within the framework of a public purchase contract called the "EFIBUS project", this system has been tested in a pilot test that has been carried out for three months on 20 buses, obtaining fuel savings of 7.4% in diesel vehicles and 3.5% in vehicles powered by Natural Gas. In addition, an improvement in driving of 3.6% has been verified, with the consequent improvement in comfort for users of this public transport. These results have given the green light for the start of the second phase of the project, which includes the installation of the system in approximately half of the EMT fleet.
